Armed Robbers Raid Migrant Family’s Home in Magura, Steal Cash and Gold

An armed group reportedly broke into the home of a migrant family in Sreepur, Magura, in the early hours of Monday, holding family members hostage before fleeing with cash and a substantial quantity of gold jewellery.

The incident allegedly took place at around 2am at the residence of Ashok Biswas in Gobindapur village, under Nakol Union of Sreepur Upazila. According to the family, several armed men entered the house and threatened them with knives before tying their hands and feet.

The robbers allegedly searched the property and took around Tk 70,000 in cash and an estimated 6–9 bhori of gold jewellery. The family members were later freed with assistance from the local Union Parishad, after which the incident became known in the area.

The family said the incident has left them traumatised and fearful for their safety. They have called for a thorough investigation, the arrest of those responsible and the recovery of the stolen valuables.

Authorities had not immediately provided a detailed public update on the case or confirmed whether any arrests had been made. The allegations and the value of the stolen property would need to be established through the ongoing investigation.
