Concern has grown in Hathazari over the reported disappearance of a 17-year-old Hindu college student who has been missing since August 1, 2026, from the Purba Mekhal area of the upazila. The missing student has been identified as Manisha Nath Sharma, 17, a resident of Purba Mekhal. According to her family, she went missing at around 9pm on August 1 and has not been located since.
The family has lodged a general diary with Hathazari Police Station and alleged that a particular young man may be connected to her disappearance. The allegation has not been independently verified, and no conclusion has been established regarding the circumstances of the student’s disappearance. The case has also drawn attention on social media, where family members have appealed for information about Manisha’s whereabouts and urged the authorities to intensify efforts to locate her.
