14 September- 2026, Gopalganj:- Police have recovered the body of Pari Rani Hazra (65), an elderly Hindu woman, three days after she went missing in Gopalganj.
Her body was found on Monday (September 14) in a jute field beside her home in Bedbhita village, Satpara Union, Gopalganj Sadar Upazila.
According to her son, Mrinal Hazra, his mother had been missing since Saturday (September 12). On Monday morning, he noticed a foul smell coming from the jute field beside the road in front of their house. Following the source of the odor, he discovered his mother’s body.
Mrinal alleged that the family suspects she was killed by assailants who took the gold jewelry from her ears and nose before leaving her body in the jute field. However, police have not yet confirmed that it was a murder.
Sirajul Islam, Investigation Officer of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station, said police recovered the body after receiving information from local residents and sent it to the morgue of Gopalganj 250-Bed General Hospital for an autopsy.
He added that the body has since been handed over to the family after the post-mortem examination. An unnatural death (UD) case has been filed, and the exact cause of death will be determined after the autopsy report is received. Police said necessary legal action will be taken based on the findings.
