Bakul Chandra Barman is a visionary young leader and dedicated human rights activist who has long been at the forefront of defending the rights and security of indigenous and minority communities in Bangladesh. Despite facing threats and obstacles, he has fearlessly raised his voice against discrimination, persecution, and injustice. Under his leadership, young generations have united in the movement to demand justice and ensure the rights of minorities. Today, he serves as the voice of the Voice of Minorities platform.
Bakul holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B-Pharm Professional) and a Master’s in Pharmacy from the prestigious Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU). From 2016 to 2025, Bakul served as the Community Chief and President of the Koch-Rajbanshi Indigenous Community of Bangladesh. Under his bold leadership, this historically marginalized group witnessed significant progress in education, culture, and socio-economic development. Through personal sacrifices — often funding initiatives from his own earnings as a tutor — he supported countless underprivileged indigenous students. Today, more than 450 students from the Koch-Rajbanshi community are pursuing education in renowned institutions across Bangladesh thanks to his initiatives.
He also pioneered women’s empowerment programs by creating training and employment opportunities, established a Cultural Academy to preserve and promote indigenous heritage, and founded a Sports Academy for disadvantaged children and youth to foster physical and cultural development.
As an indigenous person, a minority Hindu, and a visionary young leader, Bakul Chandra Barman embodies the mission and spirit of Voice of Minorities. His leadership inspires us to continue our struggle for justice, equality, and dignity. With Bakul as the voice of our platform, we are more motivated than ever to carry forward our mission — ensuring that the truth reaches the world and the rights of minorities are upheld.
