18 December 2025, Voice of Minority(VOM):- A wave of shock and condemnation has swept across the country following the brutal killing of Dipu Chandra Das in Bhaluka, Mymensingh. The incident, in which the victim was allegedly beaten to death, hung from a tree, and then set on fire, has drawn strong protests from Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad.
In an official press release issued on Friday, December 19, and signed by the organization’s Office Secretary Sachin Nath Barai, the Puja Udjapan Parishad expressed deep anger and sorrow over what it described as an inhuman and barbaric act.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on Thursday, December 18, following an alleged accusation of religious defamation. Without any legal process or verification, a group of assailants reportedly assaulted Dipu Chandra Das mercilessly. He was later hanged from a tree and his body was set ablaze—an act that the organization described as a gross violation of human rights and the rule of law.
The Puja Udjapan Parishad, along with the Metropolitan Sarbojanin Puja Committee, strongly condemned the killing and demanded an immediate, impartial, and transparent investigation into the incident. The organization also called on the authorities to ensure that all individuals responsible are identified and brought to justice without delay.
In the statement, the organization warned that such incidents not only endanger communal harmony but also reflect a dangerous culture of impunity. It urged the government and law enforcement agencies to take decisive steps to prevent mob violence and protect innocent lives.
The killing has once again raised serious concerns about the safety and security of religious minorities in the country.
A pressing question now remains unanswered: where is the safety of minorities in Bangladesh?
