Salanga, Sirajganj ।। 11 October, 2025: Police recovered the body of a Hindu woman named Anna Rani (42) from the bank of a pond near Islami High School in Salanga, under Ullapara Upazila in Sirajganj district.
Anna Rani was serving as a Union Dafadar (village constable) of Salanga Union. She was the wife of the late Bijen Chandra Das of Bhoramohoni Daspara village.
According to local sources, residents discovered Anna Rani lying unconscious by the pond on Saturday morning and immediately informed the police. Upon receiving the information, Salanga Police Station officers arrived at the scene and recovered the body. It was then sent to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Salanga Police Station stated “The incident is under investigation. The cause of death is yet to be determined. Whether it was an accident or a homicide will be confirmed after the autopsy report.”
The incident has sparked significant concern and unrest in the local community. Residents have demanded a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind the mysterious death of Dafadar Anna Rani.
