01 September, 2026 – Moulvibazar: The body of Meera Hazra, 40, a female tea worker, was recovered from a drain inside the Bhadraura Tea Garden in Sreemangal Upazila of Moulvibazar.
According to family members and local sources, Meera left home on Monday morning, August 31, as usual to pick tea leaves at the plantation. However, she did not return home that night.
After becoming concerned when she remained missing for an extended period, her family members began searching for her. Other tea workers at the plantation also joined the search.
During the search later that night, they reportedly found Meera’s body lying inside a drain in Section No. 29 of the Bhadraura Tea Garden. Her body was subsequently recovered from the site.
The circumstances surrounding her death were not immediately clear. Further details regarding the cause of death and whether there was any third-party involvement would depend on the findings of the authorities’ investigation and, if conducted, an autopsy.
