After the allegations spread on social media, the incident triggered widespread outrage and condemnation among members of the Hindu community.
According to the allegations, several people were seen organizing a picnic inside the Harinarayanpur Mahashmashan, a site regarded as sacred by Hindus. They were also accused of cooking beef and posing for photographs while standing with shoes on atop graves or cremation sites. After photographs and information related to the alleged incident circulated on social media, strong reactions emerged among local Hindus.
Many members of the Hindu community said that the Mahashmashan is an extremely sacred and emotionally significant place where the last rites of deceased loved ones are performed, and where graves and cremation sites are treated with respect. They said that organizing a picnic, cooking food, or standing on graves or cremation sites for photographs at such a place is unacceptable.
The alleged incident has drawn widespread condemnation on social media, with many calling for a fair investigation to identify those involved and ensure swift action under existing laws if the allegations are proven.
Local residents said that protecting the sanctity of religious sites and cremation grounds is a shared responsibility.
