24 September, 2026 – Panchagarh: A theft has been reported at a Vishnu temple in Debiganj upazila of Panchagarh. According to reports, a Vishnu idol, various brass utensils, solar batteries, and several other items were stolen from the temple.
According to information provided by local residents, the theft occurred last night at the temple located in Baragharia Para of Purba Debiduba Union. The incident came to light in the morning, causing concern among local residents.
Following the report, members of the local administration visited the site and conducted an initial assessment of the situation. An investigation into the incident has also been launched.
Members of the Panchagarh District Durga Puja Monitoring Cell also visited the temple. During the visit, they spoke with members of the local temple committee and other concerned individuals and collected information about the reported theft.
Those concerned said the administrative investigation is currently ongoing. Local residents hope that the investigation will uncover the circumstances surrounding the theft, recover the stolen items, and identify those responsible so that legal action can be taken.
