Nasirnagar in Brahmanbaria: Hindu Family Alleges Illegal Occupation of Ancestral Land

Nasirnagar, Brahmanbaria , 17 december 2025:- A Hindu family in eastern Bangladesh has alleged that nearly 10 bighas of land belonging to them are being forcibly seized in Sadhan village of Bholakut Union, under Nasirnagar upazila in Brahmanbaria district.

According to the family, the land—acquired through inheritance and legal purchase—has been under their lawful possession for decades. Despite holding valid ownership documents, they claim that a group of individuals, described as religious extremists, have been attempting to occupy the property unlawfully.

Local sources say the alleged occupiers entered the land without legal authority and harvested paddy crops from parts of the property. The family fears that further crops may be taken, leaving them in a state of deep anxiety and insecurity.

The affected family has sought legal remedy by filing a case in court. In response, the court issued an injunction order restricting entry onto the disputed land until the matter is resolved. An investigator, Anwar Kabir Khan, was appointed to examine the case. The court reportedly instructed that no party should access the land during the investigation.

However, the family alleges that the accused individuals have continued to disregard the court’s order and have attempted to re-enter the land. They also claim to have received threats of physical harm, raising concerns about their safety and escalating tension in the area.

Local civil society members have called for immediate administrative intervention, urging authorities to enforce the court’s directive and take firm legal action against those responsible. They have also demanded adequate protection for the affected family to prevent further escalation.

Officials have yet to publicly comment on the allegations. The situation remains under close watch by local residents.
