Noakhali, 13 October 2024:- In a gruesome daylight attack, Subrata Chandra Das was hacked and his throat slit by unidentified assailants in Subarnachar upazila of Noakhali. The victim has been identified as Subrata Chandra Das, 42. The brutal murder took place around 1:45 PM on Monday on the Parishkar Bazar road, about half a kilometer west of Haris Chowdhury Bazar in Paschim Charjubilee village.

Police said the victim, Subrata Chandra Das, was the son of Chiru Ranjan Das of Char Bozlul Karim village, located in Ward 6 of Char Amanullah Union. Upon receiving the news, officers from Char Jabbar Police Station recovered the body from the scene and brought it to the station. The body will be sent to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital morgue on Tuesday morning for autopsy.

According to local sources, Subrata’s wife, Rikta Rani Das, works at the Char Jabbar Union Health and Family Welfare Center. As usual, Subrata was on his way to pick her up by motorcycle. Around 1:45 PM, when he reached the area west of Palowan Bari, unknown assailants in a CNG-run auto-rickshaw intercepted him. They attacked him indiscriminately with sharp weapons, slit his throat, and left his body on the road before fleeing the scene.

The motorcycle was found undamaged at the spot. Locals reported the incident to the police.

The victim’s uncle, Liton Chandra Das, said, “My nephew Subrata had left his business a few years ago. He was killed on his way to pick up his wife. We demand that the perpetrators be identified and brought to justice swiftly. This incident occurred while he was going to pick up his wife from work. However, no one witnessed the murder. His motorcycle was found lying at the scene. Based on information from locals, police later recovered his body from the spot.”

Officer-in-Charge of Char Jabbar Police Station, Md. Shaheen Mia, stated, “Subrata Chandra Das was on his way to bring his wife. His body was recovered from the scene, and the motorcycle was found at the location. We are not yet certain who was involved, but we are conducting a thorough investigation.”
